"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; ? And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. " (Rev 7:9-10)

Why do we lift our hands? |
"And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high." (2 Chron 20:19)
"Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name." (Psalm 63:4)
"I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting." (1 Tim 2:8)
Why do we have audible praise
unto GOD? |
"Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that
is within me, bless his holy name" (Psalms
103:1)
"And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth." (Revelations 19:6)
Why do we sing in tongues and
English? |
"For I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray for the spirit and I will pray for the understanding also. I will sing with the spirit and I sing with the understanding also."(1 Cor 14:14-15)
Why do we have this type of
worship? |
"But the hour commeth.... and now is when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in sprit and in truth. For the Father seeketh such to worship Him in spirit and in truth." (John 4:23-24)
"For we are the circumcision which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh." (Philipians 3:3)
Why do we sing choruses as well
as hymns? |
"And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; ?? Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord" (Eph. 5:18-19)
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." (Col. 3:16)
"Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing." (Psalms 30"11)
"Let them praise his name in the dance." (Psalms 149:3)
"Praise him with the timbrel and dance." (Psalms 150:4)
Why are musical instruments part of
the worship?
"Praise him with the sound of the trumpet ? ? : praise him with the psaltery and harp.? Praise him with the timbrel and dance?: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD." (Psalms 150:5)
"And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps." (Revelation 14:2)
Why does the whole church pray
at once for specific needs?
"And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is." (Acts 4:24)
